Lui has been working in China since 2008. From that point in time, as a self-employed business consultant, he advised and helped several Western companies or their China-based subsidiaries (e.g. Gerflor Group, Oxymetal Group, Altrad Group) to expand, develop, restructure, manage and operate their businesses in China.

The scope of these projects covers but are not limited to market research; sales & marketing strategy advisory; business development; company setup; financial accounting (PRC GAAP), reporting, and auditing; factory restructuration and management; JV partnership management; HR, fiscal and legal issues solving…

Examples of achievements:
1) Market research and sales & marketing strategy advisory: A detailed action plan was defined for implementing the recommended sales & marketing strategies that helped develop the sales volume by a projected annual growth rate of 30%-40% (actual growth rate: +50%).
2) Financial accounting, reporting and auditing: Helped the group CFO understand the Chinese GAAP rules and differences (vs. IFRS principles), identified anomalies and proposed corrective solutions by reviewing every single accounting transaction of the Chinese subsidiaries over 2008-2010.
3) Factory restructuration and management: Restructured over 6 months an ill-managed factory, without productivity disruption, and with the necessity to replace the production manager and re-negotiate 30 employment contracts due to illegal practices (no contract, underpaid overtime, unpaid social insurance, etc.)

Lui has a Sino-French bicultural background. He was born in China but mainly grew up in France. Before returning back to his native country, Lui has worked for 11 years in Europe respectively as a research engineer, R&D programmes manager, and head of an IT department at General Directorate of Armament within the French Ministry of Defense; and then as a senior consultant at Simon-Kucher and Partners, a management consultancy specialized in marketing and pricing strategies.

Lui graduated from a French engineering school “ENSTA Bretagne” in 1996 and achieved a PhD thesis (in the field of digital image processing) with the highest honors at University of Paris 11 (Orsay) in 2000. He also holds an Executive MBA diploma from the London Business School since 2007.
