Bruno is the co-founder of Shanghaivest. Bruno initially started Shanghaivest in 2008 focusing on fundraising and strategic consulting services to early-stage technology startups in China. Since 2010,, Shanghaivest “evolution” aims to execute cross-border mid-cap M&A transactions in several key sectors related to technology, consumer, healthcare etc.

Bruno is also a Steering Committee Member of Angelvest, a non-profit organization regrouping angel investors interested in China-based early stage investments. The group is 70+ angels strong, and has completed 25 investments to date.

In 2006, Bruno founded the Shanghai Chapter of MobileMonday (MobileMonday is a leading mobile industry community and event organizer worldwide). MobileMonday Shanghai has since become a landmark series of events for mobile and online professionals in China, attracting more than 3,000 members in its community.

An old-timer in China (since 1997), Bruno Bensaid is one of the few foreigners who successfully led a Chinese mobile value-added services provider (under a mobile gaming license from IN-FUSIO) from 2002 to 2005, growing it into a 35-people profitable operation and a VC round. During the 2002-2006 period, Bruno also helped several other mobile and online VC-backed European companies expand in China. He then started a career as an investment professional advising growth-stage companies and investing in several startups.

Sharing his China, Tech and Investment experiences, Bruno is a regular speaker and moderator at local VC and technology event, as well as international conferences such as adtech, GSMA Mobile World Congress, GSMA Mobile Asia Congress etc.

Bruno graduated from French top aerospace engineering school (“Sup’Aero”) and INSEAD (MBA for Executives). Bruno is fluent in French, English and Mandarin. He shares his time between Europe and China.
